Mayor Caroline Mercer speaking at a community event

A message from Mayor Mercer: Markham is moving forward.

Neighbours, we are proud to call Markham home. Over the past year, residents have pushed for a City Hall that is easier to reach, more transparent with tax dollars, and faster to respond when families and small businesses need help.

Caroline has served as a mayor who answers resident concerns, protects local services, opens up decision-making, and brings people together to solve practical problems. Streets are getting cleaner. Service requests are being tracked. More local jobs are being supported. The work is not finished, but Markham is becoming a city where residents are heard and results are measured.

In the next four years, Caroline will keep working for safer neighbourhoods, stronger services, responsible budgets, more attainable homes, and a city government that respects every resident’s time.

Selected results and priorities for the next four years

Faster resident response

Published service standards for common resident requests and cut average follow-up times on priority files.

Safer, cleaner neighbourhoods

Expanded community safety walks, road-safety reviews, and rapid cleanups around parks, schools, and local plazas.

Open books at City Hall

Launched clearer budget explainers and plain-language reporting so residents can see what changed and what still needs work.

A people-powered movement.

Caroline’s campaign is built around direct resident contact: coffees, local walks, small-business visits, volunteer cleanups, and practical follow-up residents can see.
